It has plenty of clever elements, but not all of them gel together as well as we’d have liked. We scored The Evil Within 2 a respectable 6/10 in our review.

The option can be toggled on and off whenever you like from the pause menu, and is also available in The Evil Within 2’s free downloadable trial in which all progress will carry over. Let’s put it in as a bonus for all platforms.” A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience.” “Some savvy users figured out a way to activate this mode outside of its intended area, and the reaction to it was pretty positive, so we said, “What the heck. Be warned, the final boss is spoilt in one of the images!
The new feature was detailed in a recent blog post alongside comments from producer Shinsaku Ohara. Previously playable exclusively from a third-person perspective, this new mode allows players to experience the entire game from the eyes of Sebastian Castellanos. I need a break.Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have introduced a first-person mode for The Evil Within 2 across PS4, Xbox One and PC.
That's a game, you're supposed to do things, not watch a frecking movie, damn it. You can also enjoy majestic textures from even closer for an even better console experience.īut mainly because of when this game gets me angry, I can enjoy running to enemies and shooting with my shotgun in their face while looking them in the eye.Įdit : However, the story is a bit meh, I've had enough of Sebastian feeling guilty for everything that happens in the game, and the game just did what I hate in a video game, which is killing a character in a cutscene while your avatar is looking dumbly without moving. Now from a gameplay perspective, stealth is half-working, and it's not true 1rst person view, meaning aiming is a bit crappy and the few 3rd person bits left are bothering as hell. Simply put, it really adds to immersion a lot, since you see directly through Sebastian's eyes.Īlso, it does make scary games like this one even scarier. I can answer you since I chose to play this game *because* a first-person view was added. I also find the shooting mechanics work a little better, as you're no longer having Seb's massive body block half the screen.ĮDIT: Thank goodness they included a toggle, so TPS and FPS fans can enjoy the game their way. Seeing as you're fighting Lost for like 60% of the game, and Disciples for about 35% (Albedos being the sole exception to this, at a dismal 5%), all of them will shriek like mad when they see you, and the animation for this is quite a long while, giving you plenty of time to calmly react to the enemy approach, so long as you don't throw your mouse.Īnyway, I find FP to be much more disturbing, as the enemies are up close and disgustingly personal. I haven't seen many problems with stealth kIlling around corners, as you can still peek around to see if there are any enemies. Things don't work as well in some areas of the game in first person. This game was made from the ground up as a 3rd person shooter. It doesn't let you know what's near and if ur caught off guard the view is disorientating. You can't properly stealth kill from a corner with FP mode on, which was what I was was using on the harder difficulty to conserve ammo.
